I have always had a facination with &#8220;vertical flight&#8221;.\u00a0 When the opportunity afforded itself, I was able to take helicopter training for a short time\u00a0in an Aerospatiale AS350 during part of my work stay\u00a0in Japan &#8211; \u00a0all thanks to Mr. Maezawa, President of\u00a0Japan Digital Laboratories.\u00a0\u00a0 Mr. Maezawa inspired me and that was the start of\u00a0my\u00a0interest in flying\u00a0helicopters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When I returned to the United States, I began training in a Robinson R-22 at the local flight school, where I completed my\u00a0helicopter rating\u00a0as part of\u00a0my Instrument\/Commercial Pilot&#8217;s license.\u00a0 I then decided to build my own helicopter, so I purchaed a helicopter kit from RotorWay International &#8211; called the Exec 162F.\u00a0 The RotorWay Exec 162F was great kit.\u00a0 Constrution was\u00a0fairly easy, taking about one year to build, with an additional\u00a0few months of debugging and flight testing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Flying both the R-22 and the completed\u00a0Exec 1662F was great fun for a season&#8230;\u00a0 After a couple of in-flight engine failures with the Exec 162F, I decided to sell the project and put helicopters aside.\u00a0 As they say, &#8220;Time to move on&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I then turned my attention\u00a0to building a high-performance fixed-wing aircraft called the Turbine Legend (featured in this site).\u00a0 However, flying helicopters was a great experience for a few years, and I will never forget the thirll and joy of vertical flight!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In any case, I hope you enjoy the images of this experience as they are added to this part of my web site in the near future.\u00a0 Check back for the addition of photos and updates&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>RotorWay 162F Helicopter Experimental Aircraft Project<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Aerospatiale AS350 &#8211;
