This image data is provided as a courtesy for folks who are not able to acquire images from a dark sky location, or where weather makes it difficult to image, or for those who just wish to experiment with or learn about image processing techniques using high quality (subjective) image data. The good news -- the data is free! You don't have to buy time on a remote telescope or travel to a dark sky location to image. The data provided has been acquired at the JMSM Observatory located in Mayhill, NM at 7,200 ft. elevation. Seeing conditions at this site are typically 1 to 1.5 arc sec., with no light pollution. Image data has been acquired remotely using CCD Commander, with initial processing using CCDStack. The image data has been reduced as follows: Dark/Flat Calibrated, Blooms, Hot & Cold Pixels, Registered, Normalized, Sigma Reject, Sum Combined, and Deconvolved. What remains is to color combine and final process applying your own techniques -- the fun part ! The imaging hardware used for the following data is a TMB152 f8 APO, STL6303 camera, AP90 Guidescope, Paramount ME, TheSky6, MaximDL, CCD Commander, RoboFocus. The data can be brought directly into PhotoShop, or LRGB combined in another application like Maxim or CCDStack. Have fun playing with the data. If you publish or post your final image, the only thing I request is that you reference credit to the JMSM Observatory. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Clear Skies, |
