Oil Painting ...

From the time I was a young child, I have always had an interest in art.  Over the years, I have painted quite a few oil and watercolor paintings.  Painting seascapes has been a particular passion -- a reminder of when I was growing up along the central California coast.  These days, I find little time for painting with my new interest in astrophotography.  However, every so often I feel a calling to pick up a brush and start another painting.    Perhaps someday soon...   The painting below is a scene of the wild surf typical of the area near Point Conception, CA.

Making Classical Guitars ...

When I was 17 years old, I took an apprenticeship from Hoyt Jeffers in Santa Barbara, CA to learn how to make classical guitars.  Since that time, I have made 14 guitars over the years, with a Flamenco Guitar now under construction, slowly coming to completion.  The classical guitar shown below is one I made for my wife as a wedding present.  The back, sides and fingerboard are of Rosewood, the top of German Spruce, and the neck made from Honduras Mahogany.

This is a photo of me and my daughter Amy.  We built this Violin  together.  It was actually a Fiddle Kit that was a great deal of fun to build.  The sound was not too bad either.  The best thing was the Father/Daughter time together.
